Town of Amherst Offices, including Town Court, will be closed on Friday, March 29 in observance of Good Friday. The holiday will NOT impact Modern Disposal garbage and recycling pickup schedule.

Assessor's Office: Informal Reviews Due End of March


Reminder to property owners, those who disagree with their new assessment and want to file an informal review, your submission is due March 31 online at https://townofamherst.ir.prosgar.com. Due to the holiday, Town Hall will be closed Friday, March 29, so the Assessor’s Office will accept in person challenges one day later, until 4 PM Monday, April 1. For any questions regarding the 2024 Assessment Equity Project, please contact GAR Associates at 1-866-910-1776 or visit https://townofamherst.prosgar.com.

The Town of Amherst Arts & Culture in Public Places Board (ACPPB) is excited to announce the 2024 Painted Traffic Boxes Contest. This is our fifth year painting the Town of Amherst’s traffic boxes. All artists interested in making their mark in the Town of Amherst should apply! Wouldn’t it be great to have an intersection identified by your painted traffic box design? The theme for our contest is Amherst is Arts and Culture. The deadline for design submission is April 7, 2024. The ACPPB will select the six lucky submissions. Winter Parking Ban 11/1/23 - 4/1/24


The Town of Amherst has an overnight winter parking ban in place from November 1, 2023 - April 1, 2024. Do not park vehicles on Town streets between the hours of 1 AM and 7 AM.

Street Light Conversion to LED


Starting the week of May 15, 2023, contractors will begin converting all street lights in the Town of Amherst to LED lighting. This project will take up to a full year to complete. Residents can call the Highway Department at (716) 631-7117 for more information.
