Property Assessment Challenge Workshops


The Town of Amherst Assessor’s Office will be holding two free workshops providing information on the Property Assessment Challenge process. Staff will be on hand to walk individuals through the process, including forms on the website and assistance on how to search for property comparables. Two identical workshops will be held on Thursday, March 21; Amherst Senior Center at 2pm and Northwest Amherst Community Center at 7pm. No pre-registration is required.

Summer Camp Registration Dates


Thank you for your patience with the technical difficulties surrounding the summer camp registration process. The Town's Youth and Recreation Department has announced two dates for registration to control volume. Summer Explorers (middle school camp) registration will take place online at 6:00 PM Thursday, March 21. Registration for all elementary camps will take place online at 6:00 PM Wednesday, March 27. Please Note: You must have a 2024 Resident ID Card to register. Please log into your account the day prior to registration to make sure you have access. If you need assistance with a password reset, you may call the Youth and Rec office until 5:30pm the day of registration for help 716-631-7132.

Northwest Amherst Community Center to host business community


The Northwest Amherst Community Center, 220 N Pointe Pkwy., is partnering with the Amherst Chamber of Commerce to host the Chamber's March Business After Hours from 5-7 PM Tuesday, March 19. The "Spring has Sprung" community event will include entertainment by "Friends of Harmony," refreshments, and information from Horizon Health. Bins will be available to collect teen (professional) clothing for the Sweet Home Education Foundation clothes drive.

TOWN OF AMHERST, MUSICALFARE AGREE TO HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP AT AMHERST CENTRAL PARK


The Town of Amherst and MusicalFare Theatre Company announce that their partnership to bring a public theatre to Amherst Central Park has taken a significant step forward. At the Feb. 26, 2024 Town of Amherst Board Meeting, the board approved a lease agreement with MusicalFare for the new theatre that will be built in the park. State of the Town Presentation - March 20


Supervisor Brian Kulpa will present his State of the Town address at two community meetings to engage with residents, provide updates and answer questions about Town projects and community forecasting. The presentations will be held on the following dates - 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the Town’s new Northwest Amherst Community Center (NWACC), 220 Northpointe Pkwy off of North French and Sweet Home Roads in Amherst, and 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Town of Amherst Police Department Community Policing and Training Facility, 4220 Bailey Ave., Amherst. For those who are unable to attend but wish to watch the Supervisor’s message, the Feb. 2 State of the Town presentation given at the Amherst Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting is available on the Town’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@townofamherstnewyork.

The Town of Amherst Arts & Culture in Public Places Board (ACPPB) is excited to announce the 2024 Painted Traffic Boxes Contest. This is our fifth year painting the Town of Amherst’s traffic boxes. All artists interested in making their mark in the Town of Amherst should apply! Wouldn’t it be great to have an intersection identified by your painted traffic box design? The theme for our contest is Amherst is Arts and Culture. The deadline for design submission is April 7, 2024. The ACPPB will select the six lucky submissions. Winter Parking Ban 11/1/23 - 4/1/24


The Town of Amherst has an overnight winter parking ban in place from November 1, 2023 - April 1, 2024. Do not park vehicles on Town streets between the hours of 1 AM and 7 AM.

Street Light Conversion to LED


Starting the week of May 15, 2023, contractors will begin converting all street lights in the Town of Amherst to LED lighting. This project will take up to a full year to complete. Residents can call the Highway Department at (716) 631-7117 for more information.
