NOTICE:

All Town of Amherst Board and Committee meetings (with the exception of the Town Board) will be cancelled for 30 days through April 14, 2020 or until further notice. In addition, Amherst Town Hall at 5583 Main Street is closed to the public and public access will be by appointment only.

Skywarn Training

The Buffalo office of the National Weather Service will be conducting a SKYWARN spotter training seminar in Amherst, at Daemen College – Schenck Hall Room 202, 4380 Main St, on Tuesday April 21, 2020 at 7:00 PM. The training session will last about two hours and there is no cost for the training.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY - THE AMHERST HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ELECTRONICS FOR RECYCLING FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK. RESIDENTS WILL BE TURNED AWAY FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR EMPLOYEES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

SPRING HIGHWAY UPDATES

Starting April 1 residents can put out yard compost materials on their regular refuse day for pickup by Modern Disposal. The materials must be properly bundled for pickup (i.e. 4 foot lengths, no more than 60 lbs., etc.). Leaves, small trimmings and other yard waste must be put in containers, paper yard waste bags or bundled not weighing more than 60 lbs. The yard waste materials will be picked up weekly on regular scheduled refuse days. NO LOOSE LEAVES OR GRASS WILL BE PICKED UP AT THE CURBSIDE. In addition, at this time the Amherst Highway Department is suspending our annual spring brush pickup that normally starts in late May. We will provide updated information when available regarding this matter. If you have any questions please call Highway Dispatch at 631-7117.
