Volunteers are a integral part of the Amherst Center for Senior Services. Whether you wish to be of service as a way to meet new people, pursue a passion, or simply "give-back", we can help you find your volunteer niche. Members of the Center are invited to be part of an award-winning volunteer program. Our database consists of over 1600 volunteers who have provided over 82,000 hours of service last year both at the Senior Center and throughout the WNY community. Our volunteers are a positive force in the community!

How it Works

Simply complete a Volunteer Applicaton and submit it to the Volunteer Department. A member of our staff will meet with you to determine the best match for YOU. New volunteers may provide service right at the Amherst Center for Senior Services where there is a variety of options.

Options

Hospitality Desk, Gift Shop, Cafe, Information & Assistance Desk, Community Service Clubs, Performance Groups, Special Events & Programs, and Much More!

Training

Once you have chosen an ideal spot, you are trained by current volunteers in that area. Our training encompasses a positive code of conduct that emphasizes "respect for diversity".

The Volunteer Program at the Amherst Center for Senior Services received the NETWORK IN AGING'S PROGRAM OF EXCELLLENCE AWARD for outstanding and innovative contributions to the aging of WNY.

The Volunteer Services Department is located in the Amherst Center for Senior Services at 370 John James Audubon Parkway in Amherst. Please contact Jodi Kwarta, our Volunteer Services Director at 636-3055 ext 3126 or jkwarta@amherst.ny.us for further information.
