Tax Collection Reminder: Town and County taxes are due February 18; extended hours planned

Town Clerk Francina J. Spoth is reminding Amherst residents that town and county taxes are due on or before Tuesday, Feb. 18, and she has announced alternative methods and extended hours for collection.

Spoth noted that there are several options to pay town and county taxes, including: by mail, in person, online, and at select M&T bank branches.

Full payments can be made by check or money order at select M&T Bank locations (locations can be found on the back of a tax bill).

Online payment (service fees apply) by e-check, credit and debit cards can be made at

In-person, the Clerk’s Office accepts cash, checks, money orders, credit and debit cards (credit and debit cards have a service fee). Additionally, mailed payments must be postmarked on or before Feb. 18 to avoid penalties.

“Providing several payment methods and additional hours for collection are just a couple of ways of making the Clerk’s Office user-friendly. It gives our residents an opportunity to pay their taxes outside of traditional methods and office hours,” Spoth said.

Current office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended office hours will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, and Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The Town of Amherst Clerk’s Office is located in Amherst Town Hall, 5583 Main St., Williamsville. For further information regarding tax payments, call 631-7021.

The Office of the Town Clerk is responsible for recording activities of the town government and is the repository of the vital documents of town residents.
