Children Programs


Afterschool Activity Programs (Ages 5-11)

Afterschool activity programs for children and youth ages 5-11 are provided at four youth center locations (see below) throughout the Town, for youth who attend school in the Town of Amherst. The afterschool program operates from September through June on Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 PM. An extended afternoon program from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM is available.

Special weekly activities, including cooking, educational games, exercise and group activities are offered through the program. Children are encouraged to develop new skills in an atmosphere of fun and fair play. A nutritious, healthy snack will be provided for all program participants each day.

Children are bused from the school according to the school district guidelines. The following is a list of sites by school district served.

Mid-Winter & Spring Recess Camp Programs (Ages 5-11)

The Amherst Youth Board Mid-Winter & Spring Recess Camp Program is for children and youth ages 5-11. This program offers fun- filled educational activities, special interest groups and arts and crafts. Activities offered are designed to enhance each child's social, emotional and physical growth and development. Children are encouraged to develop new assets and skills in a safe atmosphere of fun and fair play.

The directors of our program are experienced and qualified. They are assisted by counselors who have been selected for their skills, personality and experience working with children.

The Mid-Winter & Spring Recess Camp Program operates from 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM. An Early Bird Drop-off Program is offered from 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM. An Extended Day Program is offered from 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM.

Our lunch for the Spring Recess Day Camp Program continues to be "brown bag" - please have children bring a beverage as well. Spring recess dates may vary by school district; check your school district calendar for specific recess dates.

Activities offered are designed to enhance each child's social, emotional and physical growth and development.
