Online FOIL Form
We have recently implemented a second Online FOIL Request form for Amherst, New York Police Department records requests.
For general requests, please continue to use our existing Online FOIL Form.
These requests will be recieved by the Amherst Town Clerk's Office.
For Amherst Police Department requests, please use our new Online POLICE FOIL Form.
These requests will be delivered directly to the Amherst Police Department.
Application for Public Access to Records
Pursuant to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL)
The Town Clerk is the Town's Official Records Management or Records Access Officer.
The Town Attorney is the Records Appeals Officer.
Fees related to FOIL requests include:
- Photocopies: $0.25 per sheet
- Records available electronically: no charge
As required by NYS Public Officers Law Article 6, §87(3)c the Town has Adopted by way of Resolution 2024-955 the LGS-1 2020 Schedule (revised 2022) as our current Subject Matter list as determined by NYS Article 57-A, §57.25.

If you're unable to use one of our online forms, you may download, print and complete a FOIL Form in PDF format. These forms must be submitted to the Town Clerk's Office. Please include as much information about your request as possible to ensure a complete and accurate search for the records you are requesting.
