National Grid Warns Customers of Latest Phone Scam
National Grid is warning customers to beware of a new phone scam where imposters are demanding immediate bill payment and threatening service disconnection. This latest scam, which is targeting customers already facing hardships due to COVID-19, involves callers who pretend to be National Grid representatives. They tell customers that unless payment is made within 30 minutes, their power will be shut off. The customer is then directed to call “the direct billing department to make a payment and avoid power disconnection.” The scammers use sophisticated phone systems that display National Grid on the customer’s caller ID.
When in doubt, customers should hang up and call the National Grid customer service number on their bill.

Town of Amherst Golf Survey
The Town of Amherst has owned a number of golf facilities (including Audubon and Oakwood) here in Amherst for many years. You may have read that we are looking at all of our golf offerings as part of the overall plan for the proposed Amherst Central Park.
The Town recently retained Golf Business Advisors, a golf consulting firm based in Virginia, to conduct an analysis of the Amherst golf courses, so that the Town will have a better understanding of their valuable golf assets. Jeff Fleishman, the owner of Golf Business Advisors, has been here to visit, has met with some golfers as well as staff members, toured the courses and also spent some time visiting the competitive courses in the area.
We want to learn more about your opinions regarding the current state of golf in Amherst and the future of golf in Amherst and would appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete this survey. Please click the website link below to take the survey. We ask that you do this prior to 5:00 pm on Friday, July 31.
Jeff will be analyzing the survey results and sharing them with us and hopefully, these results will help in the planning for golf in Amherst in the future.
