Amherst to Amherst Walking Challenge
The Amherst to Amherst walking challenge is a community effort to walk from Amherst, Nova Scotia to Amherst, NY (and maybe beyond). It will include “stops” in Amherst, Quebec, Amherst, New Hampshire and Amherst, Massachusetts. We may even make it to Amherst, Texas! ToA Farmer's Market at Bassett Park
Join the Town of Amherst on August 8, 2021, from 10am - 2pm at Bassett Park for a Farmer's Market. Over 30 vendors, including local farmers, artisans, and food vendors will be on-hand and offering the finest in local, outdoor shopping. Special guest, NorthCoast, will perform top hits of the 60's and 70's in the Amphitheater from 11:30-1:30. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and enjoy the live music during market hours. Additional activities also include a volunteer-led read-aloud under the tree behind the Senior Center tent, and pickup soccer on the large field next to Youngs Road. ToA Food Truck Rodeo at Amherst Senior Center and Walton Woods Park
Join the Town of Amherst for the 3rd Food Truck Rodeo this season! 11 food trucks will rally at the Amherst Senior Center on August 20th from 5pm-8pm to offer a wide variety of dinner options. Guests will enjoy a live performance by NorthCoast, featuring top hits of the 60's and 70's. Staff from the Amherst Senior Center and Audubon Library will also be on hand to provide information, giveaways, and more! Finally, a special, guided Nature walk will run from 6-7pm (a 30 minute walk through Walton Woods), followed by an opportunity to make a nature craft at the Senior Center tent (all ages are welcome to participate, recommended ages for craft is 4-10 years old). Tomorrow 8/27 - Amherst Highway will be milling Renaissance Dr. from Via Foresta to Covent Garden. Road will be closed except to local traffic. Please follow the arrows at the intersections. Work is weather permitting. The following work is also weather permitting: * Monday, 8/30 - we will be milling Renaissance Dr. from Covent Garden to Ayer Rd. Once again, road will be closed except to local traffic. Please follow the arrows at the intersections * Monday, 8/30 - we will be milling Youngs Rd. from Klein to Dauphin. Northbound traffic from Klein Rd. will be open. Southbound traffic from Casey Rd. will be detoured via Paradise & Hopkins. All traffic will go northbound. After milling of Youngs Rd. is complete we will go right on to paving it - weather permitting.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and NFTA-Metro will hold two virtual meetings to accept public comments on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for the proposed Buffalo-Amherst-Tonawanda Corridor Transit Expansion Project.
The meetings will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. You can register for each meeting here and here, respectively or by calling (716) 855-7382. A sign language interpreter will be available. To request a translator for a specific language, assistive listening system, or any other accommodations to facilitate participation in the meetings, please call 716-855-7382.

Media Statement - NYS Homeowners Assistance Fund
On December 17, 2021 Town of Amherst Supervisor Brian Kulpa and Sandy Becker, Senior Housing Programs Manager for Belmont Housing Resources for WNY, announced that outreach will be held at the Amherst Senior Center to assist eligible homeowners who were impacted by COVID and are now behind on their tax and/or mortgage payments and at risk of losing their homes. With New York State Homeowner Assistance Fund applications being accepted beginning Jan. 3, 2022, the Town wants to be sure eligible residents are taking advantage of this opportunity.
