2019 Town and County Bills
SPECIAL NOTICE: Many of our Amherst taxpayers and Amherst property owners may have noticed that former Amherst Town Clerk Marjory Jaeger’s name was still on the main envelope that arrived today with your 2019 Town and County tax bill inside, along with a return envelope also with Ms. Jaeger’s name on it. However, the tax bill itself said to make checks payable to Jeffery C. Zeplowitz, Amherst Town Clerk. While this may have caused some confusion to taxpayers and property owners alike, please know this was only done as a way of saving taxpayer money by bypassing the printing of new Town Clerk envelopes with current clerk Jeffery C. Zeplowitz’s name on it. If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact the Town Clerk’s office at 631-7021. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Town of Amherst 2019 Road Paving
Town of Amherst 2019 Road Paving Amherst Highway Superintendent Patrick Lucey has announced that the Amherst Highway Department will spend 2.7 million dollars (slightly less than in 2018) this year to pave Town roads. That money will come from Amherst’s Capital Improvement Project Bond money as well as funds from New York State that provides money through the CHIPS roads programs. Most of the work will be done by the Town of Amherst Highway Department crews. Amherst is responsible for over 1,000 Town roads that cover 327 miles. Depending on uncertain factors such as the price adjustments of asphalt and weather conditions some roads may be added or deleted from the list. Additionally, Town of Amherst Highway crews will continue to improve road storm drainage throughout the Town, replacing undersized and deteriorating pipes. Road work schedules and updates will be posted on the Town’s website at www.amherst.ny.us and the Highway’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Residents and or businesses residing on the roads being paved will be notified in advance of the road milling and paving process by letter and signs will be posted for no parking during the construction period. A partial list of the roads to be paved this year is provided below. Residents can also call the Highway Department at 631-7117 during regular working business hours if they have any questions.
