Citizen Preparedness Corps - Training Event Jan. 11

The Citizen Preparedness Corps gives residents the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster or emergency, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. The next in-person training in Amherst will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Amherst. Use the link below to register.

Senior Tax Exemption Application Event - Jan. 16

Citizens Police Academy Application

The Amherst Police Department is accepting applications for the 2025 Spring Citizen Police Academy. Classes are held 6:30-9:30 PM Wednesdays beginning the end of February. For additional information, contact the Amherst Police Department Community Outreach Unit at communitypolicing@apdny.org or call 716-689-1378. Application can be found using the link below. Class as first come, first served basis, as class size is limited. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either reside or work in the Town of Amherst.

Historic Preservation Commission Calls For Special Meeting - Jan. 30

The Historic Preservation Commission will meet for a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Town Hall, 5583 Main Street, Williamsville. The commission will hold a public hearing at that time on the proposed Local Landmark Designation of 4467 Main Street, Amherst. Town of Amherst Offices, including Town Court, will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. The holiday will impact Modern Disposal garbage and recycling pickup schedule. If your collection falls on or follows this day, your pick up will be delayed one day with Friday's pick up done on Saturday.
