Over the last 5 years, we have expanded our flow monitoring capabilities. There are now 19 permanent flow monitoring stations at locations along our major interceptor sewers. This number will increase over the next few years. Along with the permanent stations, we have 12 portable units that we deploy at selected points for short-term monitoring.
In addition to the flow meters, we also have 4 rain gage stations at locations throughout the Town to ensure accurate precipitation rates for studies or correlation to sewage flows.
Flow data from these meter sites can be used to develop computer models of our sanitary sewer collection system and can help us plan future sewer rehabilitation work.
>There is currently one designated full-time field crew consisting of one crew chief and one maintenance man assigned to our flow-monitoring program. They are involved in the deployment, maintenance, and calibration of the flow meters.
