Snyder Fire District Annual Election

Notice is hereby Given that the Annual Election of the Snyder Fire District will take place on December 12, 2023, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Snyder Fire Department located at 4531 Main Street, Amherst, NY 14226, for the purpose of electing one (1) Fire Commissioner for a five (5) year term, commencing on January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2028. Amherst Outdoor Holiday Market - Dec. 3

Join the Town of Amherst for the 4th annual outdoor holiday market from 11 AM to 2 PM Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Northtown Center! This annual event features local artists, vendors, farmers, and crafters. Williamsville Art Society Holiday Show 2023

The Center for Senior Services will host the Williamsville Art Society's Holiday Show at the Center, 370 JJ Audubon Parkway through Dec. 19 during normal center hours (Monday - Friday from 9 AM - 4:30 PM and Tuesday/Thursday 9 AM - 7:30 PM). The show is sponsored by Asbury Pointe.

Winter Parking Ban 11/1/23 - 4/1/24

The Town of Amherst has an overnight winter parking ban in place from November 1, 2023 - April 1, 2024. Do not park vehicles on Town streets between the hours of 1 AM and 7 AM.

Youngs Road closure announcement - Target Opening Date Revised

A road closure in town will impact Youngs Road motorists. Erie County Department of Public Works has announced that Youngs Road from Aero Drive to Lawrence Bell Drive will have a full road closure from Oct. 4 to Dec. 8 (expected). The road will be fully closed to all traffic as crews rehabilitate the Youngs Road Bridge over Ellicott Creek. Signed detour will be posted. This is an Erie County DPW project. All questions must be directed to that office. The Town of Amherst is posting as information for motorists. Originally Erie County had anticipated reopening the roadway by Nov. 8, however the date has been revised to Dec. 8 or until complete.

Street Light Conversion to LED

Starting the week of May 15, 2023, contractors will begin converting all street lights in the Town of Amherst to LED lighting. This project will take up to a full year to complete. Residents can call the Highway Department at (716) 631-7117 for more information.
