Accessible Parking Permits
To receive a disabled parking permit, an application form that has been Completed and signed by a Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Physician Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), or Optometrist (OD for blindness) must be brought to the Town Clerk's Office. Temporary permits may be certified only by a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy.
There is no fee for accessible parking permits. With proper authorization, permits can be issued while you wait. A valid NYS driver's license or non-Driver's ID card is required as proof of Amherst residency (or, if you are picking up the permit for someone else, you must bring both your license and the applicant's license).
A permanent permit is valid for five years. After that time, a renewal can be issued without a new doctor's application. Please be sure to bring in your expiring hangtag and your NYS driver’s license in order to obtain another permit.
