Town Clerk Services /  Discharge of Firearms Permits

Owners of land in the Town of Amherst may submit an application (in triplicate) for a "Discharge of Firearms Permit" at the Town Clerk's Office. The application will be submitted to the Amherst Police Department for review. Upon approval from the Police Department, a permit will be issued.

Applications submitted after October 1st will be valid until December 31st of the following year. Applications submitted after January 1st will be valid until December 31st of the current year. Permits are authorized for shotgun use only.
